The kidneys are one of the most essential
organs in the human body. The kidneys detox and filter impurities from the
blood. When the kidneys are unable to process toxins efficiently, it leads to
the formation of kidney stones. These
kidney stones are nothing but the crystallization of unprocessed minerals. Kidney
stones cause pain and possible blockage of urine flow. Dr Kammela Sridhar— Urologist, suggests some simple home remedies
that could help relieve the pain of kidney stones.
Lemon Juice and Olive Oil
The blend of lemon juice and
olive oil is customarily used as a home remedy to force out gallbladder stones
but it can also be used to treat kidney stones. The lemons contain citric acid
that helps breaking calcium-based kidney stones and prevents further growth.
Take
four tablespoons of fresh lemon juice
Put
in an equal amount of olive oil
Drink
this mixture followed by ample water
Repeat
this twice a day, for up to three days. You can stop this remedy if you excrete
the stones in a single dose.
Apple Cider Vinegar
Apple cider vinegar helps in dissolving
kidney stones. It also alkalinizes blood and urine.
Mix
two tablespoons of organic apple cider vinegar with one teaspoon of honey in
one cup of lukewarm water.
Drink
this many times a day.
Nettle Leaf
The nettle leaf has properties
that helps maintain the flow of water through the kidneys and bladder, hence
promoting smooth urination. In addition, nettle leaf prevents the formation of
crystals and keeps bacteria away.
Add
two teaspoons of dried out nettle leaf to a cup of hot water.
Keep
it for 10 minutes and then strain it.
Drink
two to three cups of nettle tea on a daily basis for a few weeks.
Dr Kammela further adds, “Remember
that these remedies are not meant to substitute medical science. If you’re undergoing
extreme pain caused by kidney stones, visit your doctor immediately.”
